Body Code is an ambitious performance project by Vulcana Circus that will premier in Brisbane at the Kingson Butter Factory in June 2025. This project is a collaboration between Vulcana, artists with lived experience of disability and AI researchers at Queensland University of Technology. The project aims to highlight the potentials and risks of emerging AI technologies and how they can interact with the lives of people living with disability. It will ask how we ensure that this technology isn’t aimed at fixing “broken” people but usefully augment and extend the body and amplify creative desires and practical needs for everyone including people with disabilities. It will advocate for how this realm of AI must be reflective of diverse communities of all kinds, in the race to monetise this technology.
