We’re thrilled to announce Allycia Staples and Chaos Fae as recipients of Vulcana’s inaugural Fresh Disability residency.
An accomplished performing artist + disability advocate, Allycia Staples is a founding member of the Sunshine Troupe and the Aha Ensemble; and one of Queensland Disability Network’s Emerging Leaders in 2022. She’s performed locally, interstate, and overseas in numerous productions – including Vulcana’s groundbreaking Body Code!
A multidisciplinary circus artist drawing on acrobatics, burlesque, and spoken word (and more!), Chaos Fae is a member of disability-led circus ensemble Chimera Arts and has performed as part of Vulcana’s celebrated Body Code ensemble. They are also currently part of Vulcana’s Trainer In Training initiative, helping teach multiple regular classes at Vulcana Arts Hub.

Guided by Fresh Mentor Lauren Watson and supported with funding and space from Vulcana, Chaos and Allycia will each be developing new work as part of their residencies.
Allycia’s residency will be continuing development on her epic theatre work Be Lagertha with a focus on film, story, circus and music.
Chaos’ residency will see them creating a solo work exploring the challenges they navigate through their experiences of neurodivergence, queerness, and plurality.
Allycia and Chaos will share their Fresh new works at Vulcana’s Tipping Point Festival in April!
Vulcana’s Fresh programme is funded by the Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland’s Queensland Art Showcase Program.
